About the event

3-week course - Wednesdays, February 1, 8 & 15 - 6:30-8:30pm

Every artist goes through periods of self-doubt and negative self-talk, whether they believe they "can't draw a straight line" or have been creating for decades. In this course, we'll go on a journey to discover why it is so many of us believe we do not have the ability to make art, why the Arts are crucial for ALL, and how to break through to the other side. By the end of our three weeks together, you'll have a renewed faith in your abilities as an artist, no matter your medium or skill level. Professional artist and former BSU Art Education adjunct, Candy Canning, will be your guide.

This course will be a mixture of lecture, discussion, writing and creative exercises, all designed to help you understand the creative process and improve your art-making in big, meaningful ways. Opportunities for growth between classes will be provided and encouraged with optional independent activities.

Please bring the following with you:

- A sketchbook (9" x 11" or so is a good size, does not have to be new)

- Materials for taking notes (or feel free to use your sketchbook)

- Any art supplies you especially enjoy working with

Optional:

- Layered clothing, as the temperatures may fluctuate in our large building

- Water bottle

Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for  those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to  generous donations to our Art Start Fund. If you would like to make  classes available to others, see our sponsorships page to contribute a  monthly or one-time donation. Thank you for supporting (y)our commUNITY!
