Service Description

Ongoing: Wednesdays & Fridays, 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Some Saturdays, 4:00pm - 6:00pm, or 5:00pm - 7:00pm Ages 8-Adult (Parents welcome!) This ongoing class is designed for entry-level and experienced students alike, looking for more practice time on the pottery wheel. Experienced clay instructor, Casey Gurr, will offer guided, small-group instruction for anyone interested in learning the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel. More advanced students are welcome to use this time to practice what they already know and try new tricks! After creating about 1-3 pieces, students can choose a glaze color, and we will dry and fire their pieces for them. Most pieces are ready for pickup in less than 2 weeks. Ceramics teach a number of valuable skills, including perseverance, patience, problem solving, and creativity! Bring your kiddos in to come play on the clay wheel and learn how to use this fun tool to create functional and decorative pieces, or join in on the fun and make some ceramic pieces of your own! If you'd like to register for this offering at a discount, check out our "Cat Clay Multipasses," from the "Memberships & Passes" tab of our website! Please bring with you: - Clothes that can get dirty, and/or an apron **Long nails are not recommended for this activity Optional: - Water in container with spill-proof lid - Layered clothing Your reservation includes access to tools/wheels/glazes, guidance (if needed), kiln firing, and shelf space in our studio, but you are responsible for your own clay, which may be purchased from our website or in the studio ($7 for 5lbs or $22 for 25lbs plus tax). While shelf space is included, we ask that you do not leave projects unattended in the studio for longer than 2 weeks at a time, to ensure we have enough shelf space for those who are actively working on a project. Additionally, please return to pick up finished pieces within 2 weeks of firing. All studio rules must be followed at all times for everyone's safety. Any participant who is misusing/abusing equipment, stealing or tampering with Cat Clay/other participant's items without permission will lose the privilege of using our facility without refunds. Scholarships are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
