Service Description
Recurring, 1-day workshops (register for each session separately). Upcoming sessions: - Thursday, December 19, 12:00 – 3:30pm - Sunday, January 26 (2025), 2:30 – 6:00pm - Tuesday, February 25 (2025), 2:00 – 5:30pm Ages 18+ In this recurring workshop, participants will explore a wide range of techniques and materials, from acrylics and watercolors, to collage elements and beyond, to create expressive, mixed media compositions. By combining drawing, painting, and collage, students will learn how to tell stories and communicate narrative through their art. Participants will also gain experience building texture, tonal variation, and creating dynamism in their work! Endless freedom from the variety of materials used will foster innovation and empower participants to express themselves in new ways. Artists of all levels can develop new skills with personalized guidance and hands-on instruction from experienced mixed media artist, Stephen Aifegha. Attending multiple sessions allows you to learn even more techniques and tricks, and get more practice in! Stephen Aifegha is a Nigerian-born visual and creative artist whose work is deeply influenced by his African identity and culture. Currently based in the United States, he holds a bachelor's degree in art with a minor in visual communication, and he specializes in contemporary African painting. Please bring the following with you: - Your preferred drawing/painting paper, and/or canvas (any size(s) will do!) - Your preferred medium(s) of choice (e.g. acrylics, oils, watercolor, etc.) - Brushes Some materials may also be provided if you need some! All other supplies provided. Optional to bring: - Personal collage materials - Water in a spill-proof container - Layered clothing Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
