Tree of Life Wire Necklace -1/14- 2:30pm

One-day workshop: Tuesday, January 14, 2:30pm - 5:30pm Ages 15+ Register for this workshop from this class listing, or save on your registration with a multi-class multipass! See "Memberships and Passes" for more info. In this intermediate workshop, we will be focusing on a "tree of life" necklace made out of wire covering a natural, stone cabochon. We will be using one core wire and 16 weaving wires to create the tree and bail. You will learn about wire gauges, creating wire sculptures and bail weaving, and you will practice adding your own flair to the piece in your finishing work. All supplies will be provided by your instructor, Maryann Weed, or by Catalyst, but if you have a cabochon that you would like to use, you may bring it! Optional items to bring: - Any cabochons that you may be partial to and would like to use in your piece - Water in a spill-proof container - Layered clothing Maryann Weed has been wire wrapping for over 12 years and loves sharing her skills with others while watching her students create beautiful pieces. In her classes, students can choose from her extensive collection of natural gemstones for their projects. Alongside her passion for jewelry-making, Maryann is also a professional cosplayer and clown/balloon artist, raising funds for children's charities through performances at events like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
