Service Description
One-day workshop: Sunday, December 15, 4:30pm - 7:00pm Ages 15+ Register for this workshop from this class listing, or save on your registration with a multi-class multipass! See "Memberships and Passes" for more info. In this beginner-friendly class, we will be focusing on a 3 core wire cabochon setting with a bail created with two wires. You will learn how to secure the wires together to create a frame and how to add your own flair to the piece in your finishing work. You will gain experience in securing a large stone using wire to create a beautiful necklace. Your instructor, Maryann Weed, will be supplying enough wire and cabochons for each student to complete 2 projects; one in class, and one at home, to apply their newfound skills to an independent project! All supplies will be provided, but if you have a cabochon that you would like to use, you may bring it; even if you bring a cabochon from home, you will still have the opportunity to pick out 2 cabochons from your instructor’s collection! Optional items to bring: - If you have a cabochon that you would like to use, you may bring it (You will still get to pick out 2 cabochons from the instructor's collection) - Water in a spill-proof container - Layered clothing Maryann Weed has been wire wrapping for over 12 years and loves sharing her skills with others while watching her students create beautiful pieces. In her classes, students can choose from her extensive collection of natural gemstones for their projects. Alongside her passion for jewelry-making, Maryann is also a professional cosplayer and clown/balloon artist, raising funds for children's charities through performances at events like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
